Jack-in-the-pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum) is a unique woodland wildflower characterized by its distinctive "pulpit" shaped spathe and the "Jack" (spadix) it encloses. The spathe, which can be green or striped with purple, protects the tiny flowers clustered on the spadix. These plants are usually 1-2 feet tall, with two or three leaves divided into three leaflets. They are also known for their bright red berries that appear in late summer.
