Wild ramps, also known as wild leeks, are a native plant in the onion family, found in rich, moist forests across eastern North America. They are characterized by broad, smooth, green leaves that emerge in early spring and have a distinctive pungent garlic-like aroma and flavor.  The leaves are often tinged with purple at the base, and the plant produces a cluster of white flowers in early summer.

Sunlight:  While they need some sunlight to initiate growth in early spring, ramps prefer shade during the summer months

Soil: Well-drained soil is crucial for ramps, as they are susceptible to rot in overly wet conditions.

    USDA Hardiness Zones: 3-7
